OBJECTIVE
To create eye-catching and thematically cohesive personalized playing cards with a morbid medieval aesthetic.
PROCESS
The project revolved around bringing a medieval theme to life through hand-illustrated playing cards. Each suit symbolized a sinister element: hearts were pierced, clubs became poison vials, diamonds embodied stolen riches, and spades transformed into swords.
I meticulously produced medieval-style art, ensuring clean lines that maintained clarity even at the small size of playing cards. Attention to detail was key as I mirrored the designs, seamlessly blending them to preserve their symmetry when viewed from any orientation—true to traditional playing card standards.
The final stage involved precise trimming and mounting the cards onto foam core boards, which proved challenging but rewarding as it brought the project to completion.
The cards were visually consistent, with clean designs that maintained legibility and symmetry, achieving the intended medieval theme and meeting the standards for clarity and cohesion.
